From 1997 to 2001, Jin-Ying Gou studied biology and received his B.A. degree at the School of Life Sciences, Fudan University. In 2001, he joined Shanghai Institute of Life Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to study plant molecular genetics and obtained his Ph.D. degree supervised by Prof. Xiao-Ya Chen. From 2007 to 2012, he was a postdoctoral research associate focused on secondary metabolism in Brookhaven National Lab USA working with Prof. Chang-Jun Liu. Then he joined the lab of Prof. Jodge Dubscovky in UC Davis as a visiting project scientist in 2012 to study wheat fungal resistance for two years. From 2014, he went back to Fudan University as a principal investigator.
Research Interests
Dr. Jin-Ying Gou built high coverage spring tetraploid and hexaploid mutant libraries to cover every GC in wheat genome on average. He selected a series of mutants with various phenotypes. Using the above genetic resources, he is investigating potential roles of metabolism in wheat biology, such as fungal resistance and grain nutrient value.
